Hints and Tips for Submitting

You don't need to be an experienced writer to get into print. Here are some guidelines for you to help make writing and submitting your first article easier.

Who can submit article?

Anyone can submit articles for The Circuit Magazine but they need to be:

  • topical to the security industry
  • interesting
  • written in English

If English is not your mother tongue or you do not feel comfortable as a writer then please do not be put off as we can help out with editing and we do have a proof reading facility.

How long does an article need to be?

Article length! We can take articles of any size but as a guide ...

  • 750 words with 1 hi-resolution image equates to around 1 page
  • articles in excess of 1500 words may have to be spread across 2 issues but there are of course exceptions

What do you mean by "high resolution images?

Images that are not high enough resolution will not be published. This may result in your article being carried over to a future issue pending submission of a better image) or unfortunately not published at all.

Do you publish all submissions?

We do not promise to publish all articles submitted.

If we do accept an article for publication, we can't specifiy which edition they will be in. We do endeavor to get your article in as soon as possible so long as it meets the requirements listed above.

What factors affect articles getting in?

Pagination - we print so many pages and once that is reached then we are full.

Balance of the issue. Each issue has to be looked at and the articles have to balance out. We cannot have an issue full of unarmed combat articles for example so if you submit one in an issue that is already heavy with certain articles then it may well slip to a future issue.

Deadline day! We have deadline just like any other publisher so the sooner you get yours in the sooner we can start planning that issue and the closer that it will be to the front of the que.

What do I get from submitting an article?

We do not pay people to write for us but neither do we charge. What contributors do get is their contact details, company logo and a small bio about themselves at the end of the article. This give you exposure across our subscription base and who knows where that can lead.

Many of our contributors like to place their articles on their own websites in pdf format and we are fully supportive of this, all we ask is that you give the magazine a mention on your site.
